Imagine trying to focus on a task but feeling like your mind is constantly being pulled in a hundred different directions. You might want to concentrate, but your thoughts keep jumping around, and it’s hard to stay on track. You could be sitting in a quiet room, but your brain feels noisy, filled with ideas and distractions.
You might feel frustrated or overwhelmed because simple tasks that others find easy can be really challenging for you. You might forget things easily or struggle to keep your day organised. Sometimes, it might seem like no matter how hard you try, you’re always falling behind or not meeting expectations.
This can make you feel different, isolated, or even ashamed, especially if you don’t understand why it’s happening. It’s common to feel anxious or down because of these struggles, and you might worry about being judged or misunderstood by others.
But at the same time, having ADHD can mean you’re incredibly creative, full of energy, and able to think outside the box. You might have a wonderful imagination and be great at finding new and exciting ways to solve problems.
If you suspect you have ADHD, it’s important to know that you’re not alone. Many people share these experiences and understand what you’re going through. By seeking help with me and talking to someone who 'gets it' can make a huge difference. I know it can be daunting to ask for help, especially when the thought of help feels overwhelming, but I really do 'get it' and by working together and at your pace, we can make sense of what you would like to change about how your ADHD impacts on you, and then focus on what tools will work best for you to bring you to who you want to be, to allow you to be in control of your ADHD journey and not the other way around.
Remember, ADHD is just one part of who you are. It doesn’t define your worth or your potential. Embracing your unique way of thinking and finding ways to manage the challenges can help you lead a fulfilling and joyful life.
