Hello, my name is Sharon McHugh and following a lifetime dedicated to working as a Therapeutic Integrative Counsellor, I am passionate about helping you overcome the difficulties you face such as Anxiety, Overwhelm, Negative and Self-Critical thoughts, low mood and exploring how your past childhood experiences are impacting on you as an adult, through person-centered therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy online covering areas such as Essex, Hertfordshire and London

Our sessions will always be led by you, this will be your space, to talk, to think and to be yourself. My aim is to support you in any way I can, to provide a safe space in an environment where you can talk openly and freely, a space that is non-judgemental, with no influences and no pressure. 

Whether you are dealing with;


Anxiety, feeling overwhelmed, substance abuse, low mood, negative and self critical thoughts or if you are trying to make sense of how your past childhood experiences are impacting on you now, I listen closely to what you say and ask questions that help you make sense of your thoughts and feelings, along with guiding you towards understanding what you need to bring peace and happiness back into your life. I know reaching out can be one of the hardest things to do as I have been there myself, but that first step really is a life changing decision.

First session


Our first session will be for us to get to know each other and for me to gain an understanding of what is going on for you. It is for you to talk about what is going on for you and how you are feeling. This allows me to not only get to know you, it also allows me to see your world through your eyes. We will also discuss how to make the best use of our time and put together a plan and agreement of how we can do our best work. Getting to know you and listening to what you bring is fundamental to my approach, as is discussing the different approaches I use including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and explaining the the way I work so you have a full understanding and can make the best decision to work in a way that feels right for you.

How we will work together:


Person-Centered Therapy

You may not know exactly what is making you feel down, anxious, or overwhelmed, and simply need a space in which to vent out how you are feeling to a totally neutral professional in a strictly confidential space.

My open and empathetic person-centered therapy gives you a space to talk about whatever you need to get off your chest, to explore why you are feeling like you are, and to be truly listened to – a space where you can simply be you without fear of judgement or pressure.


Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

If you are in a low place, you will have automatic negative thoughts that you often don’t even acknowledge when they come, as they just seem normal to you. These thoughts have a detrimental impact on how you view the world and deal with certain problems, and ultimately lead to issues like depression and anxiety.

My cognitive behavioural therapy in Billericay and online is geared towards changing the way you see a situation by expanding your knowledge around these thoughts and then working with you to replace them with healthier, more positive thought patterns.

Pricing


At the present moment I provide online video and telephone therapy, the areas I cover include Essex, Hertfordshire and London, with sessions costing £65 and lasting 50 minutes, I offer the online video 50-minute counselling sessions via Zoom, Skype, or any platform you are comfortable using. I am available to do 75 minute sessions if required at an additional cost, please enquire if you feel this is something you would like.

If you are unsure about getting person-centered therapy or cognitive behavioural therapy either via telephone online covering Essex, Hertfordshire and London, I offer a free, no-pressure 15-minute assessment over the phone, so you can decide if counselling is a good option for you.

I offer concessions for students and have a few ‘low cost spaces’ for those on a low income, please feel free to discuss this with me if you feel this is something that you need.
